The Saviour who Walks with us

When I stop to think about it, I’m amazed that Jesus - the One who existed before the world began, the Highest Name above all names - also chooses to be the One who walks alongside me. But He does! There’s a beautiful example of this in Luke 24:13-35. Two disciples were walking to Emmaus on the day of Jesus’ resurrection. They didn’t witness the resurrection themselves, though they were told about it by the women who went to the empty tomb that morning, so they were doubtful. They were saddened and h[...]

Peace is the presence of Jesus.

"Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." John 16:32 & 33(ESV). What do we do in the face of fear? I have an obstinate streak. Eyes Up

An old friend emailed me out of the blue recently. She signed off her email, "Eyes up." I didn't think much of it at the time. And then, I found myself re-opening her email and re-reading her last words. "EYES UP." They stayed with me the rest of the day. That phrase reminds me of an event in Jesus' life that was often taught to me as a child: The moment when Peter walked on wa[...]

Trusting God is enough

Do you ever set a word for the year or a verse for the year? As 2019 drew to a close I felt like my word for 2020 needed to be TRUST. I looked up Bible verses around the theme of trust and was pulled to Jeremiah 17: 7-8 ESV: “Blessed is the man (or woman) who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He (or she) is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes for its leaves remain green and is not anxious in the year of drought for it does not c[...]
