God is Near – Just a Prayer Away

“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18 (ESV).
At times, we all long for closeness, comfort, and assurance that we are not alone. Sometimes, we may feel afraid to approach God, fearing that we might not fully reveal ourselves to Him or that He may not respond when we call. Perhaps we have called on Him before and felt as though He didn’t answer. However, Psalm 145:18 assures us that God is not distant; He is close, accessible, and always ready to hear those who seek Him sincerely in prayer.
Have you ever come before God and shared everything—your joys, your struggles, and your deepest fears? For much of my life, I grappled with feelings of shame and unworthiness. To protect myself from getting hurt, I built a wall around my heart. While this wall kept me safe, it also left me feeling very lonely. I often felt like I wasn’t good enough for anyone, including God.
It took me years to feel comfortable expressing all my feelings and thoughts to God. I would think, “Can I really tell God this?” The truth is, He already knew everything I was going through. God does not set boundaries on who may approach Him. Instead, He invites us to pour out our hearts to Him with sincere faith and devotion. We can come to Him honestly, acknowledging our weaknesses and recognizing our need for His grace. Approaching Him is safe; He is a good and faithful God who understands our fears and what we may be hesitant to share.
This verse is powerful because it emphasizes that God’s nearness depends not on our status or achievements but on the condition of our hearts. It reminds us to reflect on our motives: Are we seeking Him solely for our desires, or do we genuinely love, trust, and want to be near Him?
In a world where disconnection and uncertainty are often the norm, we are not alone; God is near, just a prayer away. Whatever we express—be it gratitude, joy, need, pain, sorrow, or silent longing—God hears and responds to our honest prayers by drawing close to us. This nearness is not vague or distant; it is a tangible closeness that we feel when we call out to Him. He longs to be gracious and compassionate towards us.
We don’t need elaborate rituals, rehearsed words, or superficial “fast-food” communications. All we truly need is a sincere heart willing to reach out. Whenever you feel distant or in need, remember this promise: the Lord is close to all who call on Him in truth. So, are you willing to take that risk today? Will you come before Jesus, draw near to God, and share with Him everything you are thinking, feeling, or experiencing? Let Him love you in return. He cares deeply for you and wants to offer you peace, love, comfort, strength, and guidance.
Dear Lord, thank You for being near to us and for hearing our honest prayers. Help us to draw closer to You, trusting in Your love and grace. Give us the courage to pour out our hearts to You and to seek Your presence in every moment of our lives. Amen.
