YOU Are Also the Gift!

“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35 (NIV).
As we journey through our faith with the Lord, we are constantly reminded of the precious gifts He has bestowed upon us since the very first day we welcomed Him into our lives. I believe that even as you read this, your mind is filled with images of countless blessings you have experienced. THAT is a wonderful thing.
However, there is something even greater to consider, and I encourage you to embrace this thought wholeheartedly – YOU are ALSO the GIFT!
Everything that The Father shares with us should NOT stop there.  It needs to flow THROUGH us and out to those around us.  Remember the analogy about the Dead Sea?  Water flows in, but doesn’t flow out, resulting in a body of water that is lifeless and devoid of vitality.  As disciples of Jesus Christ, we should have left “dead” behind us!
Unfortunately, too many followers of Jesus Christ eagerly come to Him but then get stuck.  We go in search of the treasure of Spiritual Gifts, specific words from God, or the hidden secret of our purpose – but often stall along the way.  I propose that when you embrace being The Gift and allow Him to flow through your thoughts, words, and actions, you will naturally receive insight back from the Lord as you engage with others. Scripture encourages us to take a step towards God, and in response, He takes a step towards us. You might be surprised at how much He responds to you in the areas where you desire to hear from Him when you actively serve as His Gift—a divine exchange.
The best part is that you don’t need any extraordinary abilities or training to get started. You can hold open doors, speak an encouraging word, lend assistance to a neighbour, help someone in need, or give generously to support a worthy cause. It’s all within you—naturally. While pursuing those treasures is not inherently bad, I believe we can “serve” our way toward them rather than wait for divine intervention.
I strongly believe in the Scriptural thought that, “You were created for a time such as this.”  And, although we will inevitably spend time examining God’s Word and sending up prayers for hints on what we were created for – in the end (or is it in the beginning) – it all flows out of the simple action trigger: I am also the Gift.
So don’t delay.
TODAY, RIGHT NOW, without much preparation or even forethought (depending on the circumstance) – you can take a Jesus-size step to bless others that is both immediately obvious and incredibly doable.
It’s time.
Be His Gift!!
